Vera French Housing Corporation
The Vera French Housing Corporation was formed to assist persons with severe and persistent mental illness obtain safe, decent, and affordable housing that is linked to support services.
- The vast majorities of persons with severe mental illness are extremely poor and cannot afford decent housing.
- The Housing Corporation uses multiple funding sources, and public and private contributions to create additional housing options through acquisition, new construction, and rent assisted leasing.
- Types of housing include:
- shared living houses for both men and women
- a number of rent assisted units in apartment complexes
Through our Rent Scholarship Program, needy clients are able to receive one-time direct rent, security deposit, or utility assistance. In some cases, ongoing rent scholarships are available to help maintain safe, decent housing. Local donors community groups, government agencies, and private foundations make the program possible.
Program eligibility requirements apply. Donations for Vera French Housing Corporation are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law as charitable contributions to a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and may be made through Vera French Foundation.
